For All The Hype:
For all the hype, this place is highly overrated. My son and I arrived on a Saturday night around 8pm. We were seated promptly with a glass of water, and we waited, and waited. The frustration level was building. The server for our table was busy being enthralled by a patron who had discovered a bottle of wine. It was like the patron was holding court. It seemed the owners and management were waiting on bended knee.

This should have been my first clue, but I gave them the benefit of doubt. Yet the lack of acknowledgement continued. On the opposite side of where we were sitting was a larger party. When the waiter was done embellishing his presence of the Wine God, he quickly leapt over our table and started a conversation with the larger group. Common pleasantries, but come on.... Do you think you could ask us if we wanted something more than water before you started puffing your chest letting the other patrons know how great you were.

It was only after stewing for 15 minutes, that I flagged down the owner requesting service. The owner with the pomp and flair of a matre de in Paris, snapped his fingers to beckon the server which arrived a few minutes later. Geez, the owner is full of himself, pompous and cocky.

And if you think this is humorous, within minutes, the owner was flashing his new iPhone4 around the restaurant mingling with his favored customers while recording a video. Geez, I've seen yuppies like this before.

But most disappointing was the food. The menu reeked of a high end California style bistro with all of the fanciful terms and ingredients. What it lacked was the ability to meld and enhance the flavors. i am reminded of the times when I have prepared a special plate from a Alice Waters style recipe. Having spent hours obtaining the ingredients, then following step by step the recipe only to end up with a barely palatable plate of "common food". This story pretty well sums up the food. Great ingredients, poor execution.

Now who would of ever of thought, lamb shoulder with a strawberry wine sauce to accompany the lamb. Hmm, sounds interesting - NOT IMPRESSED.

It's a stretch for me to give 2 STARS. The highlight was the wine and beer menu. Bottom line: If you want to be surrounded by a bunch of "full of themselves, wanna be's" this is your place! If you are looking for a scrumptious meal and a palate enhancing experience...you need to go elsewhere
