This is an old converted house with american/homestyle breakfast and lunches. I had the Monterey Chicken and my wife had the Monte Cristo Sandwich. We waited about 15 minutes for a table at 11 AM on a Sunday. Service was efficient and friendly, and each entree was about $11.

Overall it's a pleasant bustling atmosphere, with tables inside the house and out on the patio. The Monte Cristo was made with egg dipped french toast and the Monterey Chicken was blackened and just a bit spicy. Filling entrees and no need to buy any extras - they both come with fries, rice and beans.

The Cottage has long been one of Laguna's most popular spots for breakfast. There are numerous egg dishes, pancakes, french toast and, our favorite, corned beef hash with a poached egg. Even when it's not a weekend, this place serves a number of items that you only typically see come Sunday brunch, such as a smoked salmon Benedict.
