They didn't ever finish our site after charging $21k, we're suing them:
NOW WE'RE SUEING THEM. The other reviews don't give you any contact info. We do because this is a real review by a real customer. Contact us at 805-500-5492 for documented proof of the facts, not just talk.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE FINAL CODE. THEY NEVER CAME CLOSE TO FINISHING the rebuild of our old website for our spiritual organization. They left major vital parts of it entirely undone. The contract stated they'd finish the site in 30 days for $13,500, but 9 months later it still wasn't finished and we had so much already sunk into it, we thought we had to stick with them.
They griped that they needed more money to finish it, and being the fair, honest people we are, we paid them more to finish it, for a total of $21,000. They stopped working on the missing parts as soon as they cashed that check, and told us it wasn't enough, and never even began those major missing parts, ignoring our requests, and finally saying they were too busy with their big clients.
With a proprietary system like THE FINAL CODE's, if they over-promised and don't know how to do things you need done but won't admit it, or if they get "too busy," or if they or just don't feel like finishing your site, you are stuck, out of luck, they have your money, and no other webmaster can get in there to finish it but them. Neither can you move it anywhere else. It won't just copy over.
DON'T PURCHASE A SITE ON ANY PROPRIETARY PLATFORM. They're all smiles during the sale, but once they have your money, you're at their mercy. With an open-source platform, you can just fire a dishonest or incompetent webmaster and get a new one.)
We simply had to regain control of our website and get it finished. So we got a referral to a new, super high integrity webmaster, started over, and paid the new webmaster a total of $18,000. He finished everything in 2 1/2 months with only one intern helping him. (THE FINAL CODE has a staff of 7 or more people and didn't finish it in 9 months.)
The new webmaster actually had the know-how to do everything we needed, was easy to work with, and was totally accountable down to the last detail. We are completely happy with the new webmaster and our now-complete site.
THE FINAL CODE will probably sound very convincing in denying all of this--we heard a staggering number of justifications, excuses, and denials in those 9 months, which we believed for a while. But once we caught onto them, we documented every detail, so we have facts, not talk, to show the judge.
We now have no choice but to sue THE FINAL CODE, because despite our very polite and gracious communications, they refused to make any settlement whatsoever, saying their lawyer said they "didn't do anything wrong." (You have to wonder when someone seeks moral advice from a lawyer.) Larry, the salesman/owner had the nerve to tell us they felt good about what they did, and that they "went above and beyond" for us!
