One of Park Slope's perennially crammed drinking establishments, the Gate is popular for a reason: the staff is among the best in the borough, and the drinks are just as cold and strong as the close quarters require.
Chill post-park spot to tie up your dog, rest those worn-out birks, and nurse a pale ale or dark brew as the sun sets. The juke most definitely sucks but no one's listening cuz they're all out on the patio playing cards, sharing stories from Bonnaroo, and, like, wearing shorts. Make friends with the regulars and maybe they'll spare a seat and deal you in, too.
