After making a terrible mistake, we made an even worse one by hiring Kozak as my husband's defender. We had just lost everything, and scrambled to come up with the amount he requested.. but did, and quickly. Afterwards, he was never available. He would not return any phone calls. He was a joke in court, and ultimately, my husband was sentenced to 10 years OVER the maximum on each of two felony charges. I've now done my research, and a simple change in his plea could've majorly altered the final outcome of his case... especially for future implications. Kozak either does not care about his clients and the future implications of how their case is ruled... or he's just ignorant to the ways of law, in which case he should cut his losses as an attorney move on to something more fitting. Regardless, our experience with him has led us to believe that Kozak seeks to take the last dime you have and will then blow you off, ariving to court unprepared and providing no sense of security or comfort in your choice of attorney. It's the bait and switch tactic. Please, be very cautious in dealing with this firm. Don't get caught up in the overwhelming emotions of your case and fail to educate yourself about the law. Do your own research... do not put all your trust in an attorney, and especially do not trust this one.
