If you're hosting to a group and want to impress, ask for the 6-top in the back of the main dining room. It's screened off from the rest of the room by a wooden trellis and surrounded by wall sconces and dark wood shelves lined with Champagne bottles. Very VIP.

Friday and Saturday nights after about 9pm are prime for the eye-candy crowd, while those craving a more relaxed vibe (and a seat on the lush, ivy-lined back patio) should stick to the less packed post-work and dinner hours.

The guy who opened, and then abruptly closed, Mantou Noodle has given Chicago its first gastro-lounge. Chef Rick Spiros surprises nearby nightclub zombies lurching about in search of new cocktails with a tiny creative menu of medium plates like the shredded short rib on garlic brioche, charred baby octopus, and a spicy buttermilk fried quail.
