Tips

All Towers Are Not Created Equal:
Don't park in the lots for the book, video or record stores: security guards patrol the lots, and may write tickets to theatergoers. Stick to the big lot that the theater shares with the Tower Cafe.

Editorial Reviews

For art films, visit the funky Tower, a few minutes southeast of downtown.

The only place in town for high-end art films and foreign films tugging gently on your heartstrings.:
The Scene
Plush, tacky carpet that never looks quite clean runs throughout. Follow it from the wide front hall where you can purchase snacks, or visit the art-deco bathrooms...

Information from the business

Opening in 1938, the Tower Theatre is Sacramento's oldest remaining, continuously running picture palace. The first film ever shown at the Tower was Algiers starring Charles Boyer and Hedy Lamar, which you could see for 25 cents general admission.
