Beware of Fraud:
This company lied about the internal condition of a car it sold to me and wife in July 2015. We had to sue to recover the funds and the money is still outstanding.

Unless you're a contract lawyer who wants a free payday, I wouldn't touch Thrift Auto Sales Inc. (or sales representative Christopher Phillips) with a 10-foot pole.

The Facts on Thrift Auto Sales:
Thrift Auto Sales Inc. is NOT ACCREDITED by the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU OF NEW JERSEY, where some 69 COMPLAINTS have been lodged against the company in the past three years. Currently, Thrift Auto has more complaints against it in the past three years than at least 97.65% of USED CAR DEALERS "of [the] same relative size" in New Jersey, according to the New Jersey Better Business Bureau's statistics. This figure is probably low, however, since the New Jersey Better Business Bureau lists only 6 out of 255 similarly-sized used car dealers with more than 26 complaints and Thrift Auto has more than 2.6 times that number of Better Business Bureau Complaints. This includes one complaint that my husband and I lodged with the Better Business Bureau earlier this week. (Thrift Auto Sales Inc., BBB Business Review: Complaints, July 24, 2015). After an investigation by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, Thrift Auto was forced to enter into a Consent Order on May 15, 2015 based on allegations that the company had VIOLATED THE NEW JERSEY CONSUMER FRAUD ACT by (1) "MISREPRESENTING THE CONDITION OF USED MOTOR VEHICLES"; (2) "FAILING TO HONOR THE SALES PRICE OF USED MOTOR VEHICLES"; and (3) "FAILING TO PROVIDE CONSUMERS WITH LICENSE PLATES, TITLE, AND/OR REGISTRATION IN A TIMELY MANNER." (In re THRIFT AUTO SALES, INC., N.J. Division of Consumer Affairs, May 15, 2015). Last week, my husband and I fell victim to similar acts, which, we believe, violate both the letter and the spirit of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, N.J.S.A. 56:8-1 et seq. Thrift Auto has failed to make a good faith effort thus far to resolve our issue and we are currently considering litigation against them company.

Manipulating the check engine light:
Saw car on ebay. Needed a 2nd driver to get me there due to no public transportation. 2 hour drive each way, each car. Paid in full. Thrift Auto delivered the car to me with: 1) No gas! 2) Plastic starting dragging from undercarriage of car onto pavement. 3) Check Engine Light came on 3 days later. Usually 3 strikes mean you're out! Wait... there's more. My salesperson is suddenly not available so I ask to speak to a manager. Eventually I spoke to Julio. He tells me to send an email to the General Mgr, David. Immediately I sent David an email. I waited until the next day to call back. After 5 calls and hours of waiting in between on a Friday, David finally gets on the phone at 230 in the afternoon to tell me his mechanics are available between 10am and 2pm Monday - Friday. I explain to him this info was untimely, his evasiveness rude and there was no apology. David refused to apologize and now I'm more than upset. Bad karma is upon this place and this particular business will soon get what it deserves. Does Mr. Nick Ouritski know how you treat your customers, David? Does Mr. Nick Ouritski want negative reviews about his business mostly because you don't acknowledge a customer, David? Would Mr. Nick Ouritski thank a customer for their business and apologize to a customer for a complaint? Is this practice too good for you, David? What would a business be without customers, David? Who do you think pay your salary, David, the General Manager? I know Mr. Nick Ouritski has had his share of complaints the last 7 years and he has a relatively new family to support, so my recommendation David is to stop running off current customers and ruining the possibility of any referrals. I have made it my business to report my dealings with every review to prevent anyone from dealing with Thrifty Auto Sales because of you, David, the current General Manager. Maybe I will finally get that phone call. Mr. Nick Ouritski, I'm sorry to negatively impact your business through social media but this guy David needs to be watched a little more closely.

Horrible car dealer, stay away!!!:
This dealer is a scam! They took our deposit for a vehicle, paperwork, loan and everything else completed but we waited almost 2 weeks before we could get the car. Within that time, we realized that the sales person made a mistake on the warranty, we paid for ultimate and we got value pack. The sales person said he would change it and acknowledged the mistake (tape recorded). However, in the end they refused to change the warranty because they would lose out.

Once we got the vehicle a BMW 328XI, my husband took it to the BMW dealer to check it out. The test revealed $3,600 of repairs that needed to get done. I brought it back to the dealer because I purchased a 90-day warranty for $1,895 in addition to a 2-yr warranty and we were told if anything went wrong with the car to bring it back, so we did. They gave us a hard time to fix the vehicle but eventually they decided to fix the car. They took the car to a so-called specialist who had no clue what they were doing, we were constantly calling about the vehicle, got into a lot of arguments over the shady repairs and we were not happy with their service at all. It took these incompetent people almost 4 weeks to fix something that takes less than 2 days. The worse part about it is that they didn't even do a good job on the repair, there is still more work to be done. FOOLS!!!

I ended up cancelling the warranty and they have yet to send their markup portion $1,500 to the lien holder. I guess we're going to court.

This company is a rip-off; customer service is POOR once they have your money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE, not even the dead... HORRIBLE!!!

NICK (Owner), RICK (Finance), MARK (sales) and WINNER (lot manager) all a@!%!**s, lie in front your face... They also go at each other to put on a show, like people are stupid. They play games with the phone, they play games with who's working and who's not, they just don't car.

The best thing you can do to protect yourself, is to tape record your conversations. I DID! They owe me $1,500 for the warranty cancellation and if I don't get it, I will be going to court, consumer affairs and news channel with my recordings. GOOD LUCK!!!
