Go "healthy" or go "decadent" at these American "perfect little brunch spots" in Lincoln Park and Bucktown dishing out affordable, "inventive", "hangover-curing" breakfast and lunch fare daily; though some grouse about the "cramped" interiors and "long waits on weekends", service is "always competent" (if only "sometimes friendly").

Toast caters to the Range Rover set. That said, the food is good, so bring the kids – and your mother – for a quality breakfast. Eats include a grilled tenderloin Benedict, Nutella crêpes, lemon-poppy seed buttermilk pancakes and a smoked salmon omelet. Lunch staples range from a tuna melt to a BLT, and chicken mango chutney salad. Also located at 2046 N. Damen Ave., 773-772-5600.

Information from the business

If you’re a breakfast fan, make plans to stop by Toast. Toast serves breakfast basics with a little twist, so your French toast will come stuffed with marscapone and strawberry puree. You can get lunch here, too, but breakfast is the specialty, and the place fills up fast.
