Description

The U.S. Department of Labor secured facilities from the Navy to locate an Advanced Culinary Arts training program for Job Corps during the 1980s. In 2000, the facility was expanded to house an 800-student capacity Job Corps Center offering a diverse variety of occupational and educational programs to Bay Area students.

The Treasure Island Job Corps Center is located in the center of San Francisco Bay on Treasure Island. The Bay Bridge that connects Oakland and the City of San Francisco is anchored on the combined Yerba Buena/Treasure Island location. Treasure Island was the site of the World's Fair in the early 1900s and was later converted to military use as a naval base during World War II.
