Lifelong learners welcome!:
The entire staff at Twin Rivers is warm and professional. I am an adult learner who has chosen a different profession, but "Miss Kathy" understands that a love for dance does not end when you graduate high school! She accommodates her adult learner's schedules and allows them to pursue a level that suits their abilities/goals. In addition, I have never encountered a dance studio that works with such a concise curriculum and gives students direct, annual feedback about their own levels but without pressuring them to become professionals. The spring program, which includes a full ballet, is like nothing I've ever really seen before. The staff have trained many dancers who have gone on to major/minor in dance, and even step into the professional circuit. I can't imagine dancing anywhere else as long as I am in the Lehigh Valley!

Excellent dance studio:
Twin Rivers Dance Academy is my second home. I love dancing there. The teachers are talented, patient, compassionate, and dedicated. Because of the teachers and director of Twin Rivers Dance academy, I have discovered a love of dance deeper than I imagined. I owe all of the amazing teachers of TRDA so much, and I will always be grateful for them, and for the help they have given me. Every year I notice improvements in my technique, and I find myself more confident. The other students are amazing as well. The teachers and students have inspired me, and I have met some of my best friends here. I have taken classes in four different dance studios, and none of them could compare to Twin Rivers Dance Academy.

Outstanding dance instruction and much more:
My daughter studied dance at Twin Rivers for 13 years. She graduated this past spring. Not only did she receive what I know to be the best ballet and jazz training in the area, in Kathryn Stout she found a mentor and role model. My daughter often commented to me on Miss Kathy’s intuitive sense of what were her strengths, weaknesses and capabilities and that Miss Kathy provided instruction accordingly. My daughter said, “Miss Kathy always seems to know how I am feeling without me having to say it”. At one point, my daughter seriously considered pursuing dance as a career and Miss Kathy deftly provided exactly the right balance of encouragement and guidance without exerting pressure.

Miss Kathy and all the teachers at Twin Rivers set an example of mutual respect and support among their students and I know that the environment cultivated at Twin Rivers contributed most positively to the development of my daughter’s self confidence and self esteem. My daughter left Twin Rivers with what will be a life long love and appreciation for both dance and classical music. She continues her passion for dance at college and always looks forward to returning to Twin Rivers Studio for classes and to see Miss Kathy, Miss Devon and Miss Meghan on her breaks.

A Real Gem:
Twin Rivers Dance and especially teacher/owner, Kathryn Stout, is a gem in our community. My daughter danced there from age 7 through high school (she graduated this past spring) and has nothing but the utmost respect for "Miss Kathy", for her teaching and the ballet program. Kathy Stout is a mentor to my daughter and, through her teaching helped my daughter to learn more about herself, learn how to strive to be her best, and learn how to express herself through the beauty of dance.

I am a teacher and have watched Kathy teach her classes over the years. She is able to teach both the very young beginner as well as train pre-professional dancers to embark on a career in dance. Kathy does not foster competition among her dancers. Because Kathy respects her students, they respect her and each other. It is a very healthy environment for learning. She is clear in her direction, giving her students room to experiment, make mistakes and grow. She offers praise but is not effusive and her constructive comments are offered calmly and clearly. She checks that her students understand what she has just explained. Her students feel free to ask questions and clearly want to do their best for her. It is clear she loves what she does and obvious she cares for each of her pupils, no matter what their innate dancing ability may be. Her students clearly enjoy their classes, no matter what the age. These are all hallmarks of a wonderful, professional teacher.

The end of year dance recital is just lovely. A full scale ballet that involves the littlest dancers through adult learners is the first half and a collage of ballet, tap, modern, and jazz numbers comprise the second half. It is professional through and through with many parent volunteers gladly helping to make the performances a success by helping backstage or with ticket sales. They volunteer because they believe in the organization.

I can't say enough good about Twin Rivers and its dedication to the enjoyment of dance, professionalism and respect.
