Awful Place to Work:
United Radio

What can I say about United Radio? Well let’s start first with what I cannot say. I cannot say this is a good job. It’s definitely not a career option. I cannot say “management” and the owners actually care about their employees. I cannot say that they pay well or even really pay much and amongst all other things I cannot say I don’t regret the time in which I put into this company.

My journey with United Radio started nearly two years ago. 22 months of wasted time and energy. 22 months of busting my behind only to not be recognized or even a simple annual raise as most jobs do. Even minimum wage goes up every year. Not United Radio though.

If you are looking to put in very hard work only to have your job threatened because they take on more contracts then people they are actually able to hire and keep, This is the place for you. If you like working hard and not getting paid for your hard work, this is Definitely the place for you.

If you made contact with each of their employees they will tell you number one the pay is close to none and the micromanagement is on high. The “managers” do not manage and if they do, it’s them threatening to write you up because they slipped up in some way and they are under fire.

If you like hearing about how your “managers” were talking about you and your coworkers in an appalling manner on a daily basis from other departments and coworkers this is definitely the place for you. There is no structure at this place. Just “managers” picking and choosing favorites and making friends and oh boy, you will know exactly who they don’t like. Unless of course it’s you, then you will hear it from everyone else.

Upper “management” and HR are all friends who party together. I personally got to hear often about how my manager and her husband (also an employee, go figure) like to get completely wasted on a regular basis. I mean they’re so into it their lives revolve around beer making and a beer app and how their hobbies include going to as many places as possible to fill up the credits on it, as well as the many hangovers to follow.

Here many employees are asked what can be done to make this a better work environment, but nothing is actually ever done about it or even really taken into consideration. On many occasions I personally asked my “manager” to train me to be able to do more things so I could be more productive and each time my requests were declined. Always a “yes we can do that” and then nothing. To be honest, I don’t ever recall her actually training me. A coworker on many occasions showed me how to do things, as well as a few time people of other departments, but not my “manager”.

Also if you like to be made out to feel awful because of the mistakes you may make here or there, due to lack of actual training, this is definitely the place for you. The “manager” is ever so quick to write you up and make you feel horrible. But they don’t do this behind closed doors, oh no. Not alone where maybe you may be able to get some type of constructive criticism, but they like to do this in front of groups customers and/or peers adding to how already belittled they have made you feel because they cannot take the time to actually teach you how to do your job correctly.

My “manager” is so good at sweet talking to the right people, however she has no place whatsoever being in any type of management position. But this is what happens when actual management and employees are dropping like flies. They have to resort in just taking on unfit people and hoping for the best. In 22 months I watched an unbelievable amount of people leave this company, including myself.

If you are looking for a job and not a career, a place for no advancement or even any type of pay, by all means, this is the place for you. I can go on and on about why this establishment is no place fore anyone who really wants a real place to work and truly build for their future. I mean, the pay is so awful that on a regular 40hr a week schedule, the benefits are not really affordable.

In conclusion, you don’t want to work for this place. You have been warned.
