" My life, but more importantly my mother’s, drastically changed when she was recently diagnosed with stage III breast cancer. She lives in Puyallup, Washington, and her physicians are also in that area. When she was initially diagnosed with cancer, imaging departments in her vicinity could not accommodate her needs, with delays extending as long as three weeks.
As any person newly diagnosed with cancer or their caregiver knows, imaging is very important for staging, treatment planning, and overall knowledge of the disease. As a nuclear medicine technologist whose company provides services around Seattle, I knew of Via Radiology’s dedication to patient care and efficiency. Not only did Via Radiology schedule both her MRI and PET/CT on the same day, but they also accommodated her in a very timely manner. Also, Via Radiology’s PET/CT imaging combines a diagnostic CT with PET scans for fusion images and attenuation correction. This is a drastic difference from other PET facilities, where a separate CT scan is used for attenuation correction. This advanced imaging technique helped to limit the number of scans my mother had to endure, as well as start her treatment much faster than originally intended.
I currently drive my mother to Via Radiology whenever her doctors need imaging for her treatment, and I will continue to do so. "
