Always Realiable:
Have been doing business with Vinje's for years and couldn't be more happy with how promptly they take care of our needs.

Unreasonable treatment of a customer:
I contacted Vinje's Do it Yourself Heating and discussed making a cover out of galvanized sheet metal measuring 2 ½”H x 49 ½”D x 46 ½”W with a 14” by 14” hole in the middle. I requested a rough quote and was told the price should be from $40 to $80 dollars.
I drove to the business and showed the salesman the piece from a old motorhome that I was trying to replace. He drew a box diagram to see it that is what I had in mind. I said I would like to have the box sides slope for less wind resistance and drew a diagram with the ends sloping.
He talked with the shop worker and said the price would be $145. I told him I did not understand the huge jump in cost. He told me the shop worker said it would take 2 hours for the sloping. I said it should take a skilled worker about a half hour. I told him I could not afford $145. I asked the price of the sheet metal and was told it would be $26. Then I asked if he could just sell me the sheet with the hole cut in the middle. He said it would take two weeks. I did not understand why they would cut a sheet to sell me today but that I would have to wait two weeks to have a hole cut in the middle. I asked why he was being so unreasonable. Another salesman came over and told me the he had known the fellow helping me for a long time and that he had never been unreasonable. Then he told me to take my motorhome piece and leave. I asked if they would just sell me the sheet metal. He said no and again told me to take my business elsewhere.

This business was being very unreasonable.

I do not think any business should deny selling to a customer for speaking up when something does not seem reasonable.

I contacted a competitor and was able to purchase the sheet metal I needed for a lower price even including the labor to cut the hole the middle. The competitor’s shop worker cut the sheet to size and added the hole quicker than the salesman could write the receipt and make change.
