Not worth the trouble:
Where do I begin? First... rent increases here at Walnut Village Apartments have become a joke! Since the new owners ( an investment company) took over in 2006 no repairs have been made. Seems they can not make repairs and pay their investors too. So the tenants at Walnut Village have to pay the price. Since I am technically paying the investors more $$$$$$$$$$$$$ by NOT having any repairs how about paying me?!!!! It is easy to make a profit on real estate when you raise the rent and make no repairs!!!!! This is known as, How to profit from the little guy 101!

The building seems OK on the outside. Not so true on the inside. New available rentals are given a make-over. And quickly rented to multiple families.

Cockroaches , Rats & Mites Oh My!
What is this black stuff all over the place falling into my food from the cabinets? it's not pepper, it's not coffee grounds. IT'S COCKROACH POOP!! According to Ca state law this makes the unit UNINHABITABLE!
Rats and the friends they carry~the walls are alive with the sounds of rat fights.
As the wind blows..little brown rat poop keeps falling on my head. Could this be from roof rats?
Rat Mites AKA~ Little biting red bugs abundant! Liponyssoides sanguineus, Laelaps echidnina, Ornithonyssus spp., Dermanyssus gallinae, Cheyletiella spp.)
With lack of basic maintenance comes problems.Oh I forgot, gotta pay the investors, no funds for maintenance.

Floods ~ better build an Ark!
When it rains it pours...that right folks right into your already mold filled units! Row Row Row your Boat just to get out the door! The law requires a quick solution to water damage..but that's right. No can do! GOTTA PAY THE INVESTORS!

Heat and Hot water ~ AKA lack of!

Winter? Is your unit lacking heat? Well freeze you will! Why you ask? My rent was raised and I have NO heat...See how to profit from the little guy 101.
A landlord has 72 hours to repair your heat! According to Ca state law lack of heat makes the unit UNINHABITABLE! Do they know this? I doubt it. To busy paying the investors.

Rotted floors , Mold and More! Bringing the outside in.
HELP! My bathroom walls are falling apart! What is with the black fuzz on the walls? Is this stuff really found in nature? Or only on MY bathroom walls?
Rotted floors bring fresh air in. Better watch your step!

The sounds of silence ~AKA lack of
Cheep labor for the rich..can you say UNLICENSED CONTRACTORS? Do you know the hours you can work according to the law? 4 pm to 4 am ? 12 am to 12 pm? Any dang time you want? WRONG ! According to Ca state law you can work in a residential area from 9am to 5 pm! But then how would you know that since you have no LICENSE!!!
Watch out for falling roof tops!

Plumbing , Drains and More~
Oh no not again! Sewage in filling up my bathroom. And I do mean raw! No you can't fix it?!!! Can you clear the outside lines ? NO?!! Oh sorry I forgot...YOU GOTTA PAY THE INVESTORS!

Are you a tenant? Run don't walk to your nearest lawyer! That's right...you THE LITTLE GUY have rights. The right to heat, hot water , quiet enjoyment & vermin free living!

Things I learned living at Walnut Village

Mold is not just for making cheese.
Rats are smarter than you think.
Rat mites may seem very small but they pack a punch.
Cockroaches can make you very sick, and cost you lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
It is impossible to rid 48 units of cockroaches on your own.
No, that IS NOT pepper all over the counter!
Temperatures in California CAN get very cold in Winter.
Exposure to cold can make you sick (mom always said it could) now, I do not remember her telling me to wear my winter coat INSIDE!
Unlicened Contrators can party hard all nite living in vacant units.
Unlicened Contrators do shoddy cheep work.
Sewage does NOT always go to the sea. Sometimes it ends up in your bathroom and surrounding rooms!
Investors are more important than children.
Rents can be raised to ridiculous prices.
Wet carpet can smell worse than raw sewage!
Wet walls and carpets can grow strange black fuzz.
Weather-stripping is a must!
Landlords are NOT above the law.

Can we say HEALTH INSPECTOR? DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS? VECTOR CONTROL? CONTACTORS BOARD? CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT? RENT ABATEMENT?

Overpriced Slum! No repairs!:
This building is the pits! Toilets back up. Units flood. Roaches and rats are abundant here! Slum living at its worst!
