Excellent buying experience:
On Criagslist on seen a ATV that I wanted to purchase for my son. We live on really big property and throught it would be perfect for him. I did n't know too much on ATV but, after calling and speaking with West Coast ATV's they where very informative. I drove there just to go check it out. I was happy to say they where just as nice in person. The sales guy did mind explaining everything that has to do with that ATV. You know after looking at the review below I can't think this if a little too informative and sounds like it from a rival shop. Give me a break. My experience here was perfect and after seeing the item to which I was interested. I bought it. I just want to say that when you see such detail reviews like this one it sounds a little fishy.

Purchasing sunl go karts at West Coast ATV a nightmare!:
In November-2007 we purchased a 150cc sunl off road go kart with the price advertized at $1900. We are 1st time consumers of this kind of vehicle and clueless and trusting.

It is now June 13th, 2008, over 8 months later, and we are well over $3,500 poorer and have a 600 lb, West Coast off Road 150cc Go Kart
sitting in our garage that will not start and the orginal 2.5 gas can we got with the kart still has gas in it.

Read on for our expensive details of frustration. Even after a new engine, on a 2nd go kart...the go kart failed after about 2-3 hours of drive time....

In NOvember of 2007, when we were purchasing the kart, Al the Dealer made bizzare demands of how on a weekend we could prove we had money in our checking account? We offered our credit card. After much todo and ID checking he took our check with a credit card back up. We were baffled at all the todo made over our payment.

We had our son with us and left feeling degraded and should have seen what was coming.

Our 2nd warning we received on our drive home with the kart loaded and our son smiling...unfortunately that's when we looked for the 1st time at our receipt (as the dealer had us so distracted about the honor of our payment). The receipt included an additional $257 assembly fee. The Dealer, advertisement or tag never mentions a additional assembly fee. ON our way home we called them on it and they said assembly charges remained. We wanted good relations and accepted their fee and continued home feeling somewhat cheated.

We followed their instructions to the letter. Break it in slowly the 1st tank of gas. Change the oil after 1st tank of gas. Call them and not refer to manual with questions. Our son lovingly cared, cleaned and drove the kart on a course we made on our land.

We were assured by Al the dealer, these were maintenance free vehicles and service was unlikely, but if service was needed they would take complete care of us. WE were clueless.

After 4-5 hours drive time in the 1st week or so the kart started having problems. We called them with each problem:
1) engine would not idle without cutting off. (advised to adjusted throttle)
2) gradual difficulies in starting
3) engine stopping while driving
4) eventually gas spewing while our son and friend were driving it!

At that point, we were scared harm could have come to us and we returned the kart. They replaced it with a new kart.

The same thing and more including battery issues happened with the 2nd kart within 4-5 hours of drive
time.

We bought a new battery charger. We had a mechanic pick the kart up to replace the carburator that the dealer mailed to us.

Our mechanic refused to repair kart as in his opinion, the kart had been compromised by clogged gas lines from disolved residue from the gas tank liner, dirt that had been sucked into the engine by a poorly placed, unsealed air filter, etc.

We returned the kart to the dealer and ask for a refund. Declined.

Dealer replaced carburator, flushed gas tank and lines, silicone sealed the air filter and changed the oil. WE picked up the kart and brought it home.

Again, after several hours drive time the kart spewed oil/fuel, engine died, and kart refused to go forward when we could get the engine to start. It would only reverse.

Again we had to load,(lift the 500-600 lb kart) as it could not be driven into the trailer this time) and return it to the dealer.

All confidence is gone and so is our patience.

We bought a Costco Go Kart and had our mechanic assemble it before Christmas to replace the unsafe, undriveable Sunl Go Kart from West Coast ATV.
We had promised our son a Go Kart for Christmas and he had handled his disappointment well.

To date, the Costco 150 cc off road Kart has never had one problem. Runs perfectly every time.

Now we have experience with karts and realize how faulty the West Coast ATV Sunl kart is.

In the meantime, it is now January and we have the West Coast Kart at the dealers under repair and they tell us we must pay an additional $400 for them to remove and return the engine to Sunl for engine replacement under warranty. Suckers...Not knowing what else to do we agree as they will not refund us our money and they have the kart.

In April they do not return my calls as to what is happening until I Call them repeatedly (6-7 times) in one day.
They say Sunl will not send the new engine or respond to them.

They give me a number to call and I'm told an engine will be sent if shipment fees will be paid. I call West Coast and they told me I'd have to pay the $40 to get the engine shipped. Sucker again. They tell me they will call when engine arrives.

Another month passes and We contact an attorney. He Sends them a letter. Withn days, we are notified we have 5 days to pick up the kart. It is finally repaired with new engine.

We have our mechanic pick up the kart, June 6th,2008, 7 months since purchase and we still have gas in the 2.5 gallon gas tank we got when we bought the kart. That is how much we got to drive the kart in the last 7 months! West Coast ATV has had the kart from January to June 6th.

Besides mechanic fees, delivery fees, attorney fees and time, gas and effort returning the kart multiple times to dealer, plus the additonal $400 service to West Coast ATV we Suckers feel ripped off totally.

We are not able to sell the kart in good faith...donate the kart in good faith...and are hesitant to allow our son to drive it. This experience With West Coast ATV has cost us over $3000.

Small Claims court may be our son's next learning experience when we calm down.

Don't let this happen to you!
