This facility still hints at its former glory days. The design and lay-out are homey and warm, rather than institutional like some larger facilities. But the building, furnishings and landscaping are getting dog-eared and the services, staff and amenities have been cut. There are fewer aides and other staff members to assist residents; there are fewer activities, events, parties and entertainers; and when something breaks, like a TV or dryer, it can take months to replace. They haven't had a nurse on staff for a few months and, over the past year, they have probably gone through 3 or 4 nurses. Some of them seemed to stay only a couple of months. I assume that the expense cuts are the result of Brookdale, a for profit company, watching its bottom line. After all, their shareholders need to make money. As a result, the residents are being short-changed.
